Steps to being found: SEO

There are several ways for your website to be findable on search engines such as Google, Bing, or Yahoo. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a good idea for your website because it ensures that your site will be the first to show up when people search for specific queries. For example, when someone searches "Best flower shop" of course you want your site to be the first to show up. So here are some steps and examples for findability.

XML Sitemaps

A sitemap documents each and every page or part of your website. You can get an XML Sitemap generated and then once properly submitted, the content will be able to be found via search engines.

Meta Tags

Meta tags are a part of your website's code. Specific <meta> tags are coded and let the search engines bots read the information you provide such as a website description, website author, or even website keywords that will define your site.

Website Submissions

Almost the same concept as an XML sitemap, but instead of submitting an actual XML file you only have to submit your website's URL. This indexes your website into whichever search engine you submit it to, but submitting to every one possible is reccomended.

Proper & Relevant titles and headings

When search engine's crawl your site it looks for specific content to show when someone finds your site on Google. So a good practice is to properly use the title and heading tags properly. (<title>, <h1>, etc) By properly, I mean make sure the content is relevant to your website, and correctly what you'd want it to show up as on a search engine.

Relevant Ads

Advertising is a great way to get your website seen, even though it might be a risky return on investment. You pay to have ads show up whenever a term related to your website is searched. This ensures your site will be seen by the people you specifically want.
